Transforming the Studios: A Fresh Space for Creating

Welcome back! Today I’d like to take you along on a stroll through the studio! We’ve updated the space to help with the creative energy.

It did take us longer than we planned, but we finally have a cozy space where the muse can play. They can invite all the magical creatures and artistic fancies of their heart’s desire. We’re ready for it!

Our first stop is my art desk. This trusty desk has been with me for many years. It’s my heavy, sturdy rock and I can’t imagine working without it. We’ve created so much together! Below sits something new. We put together a white island for holding all my go-to art supplies. With a little help from 3D printing, we added casters. That way when I’m done for the day, I simply roll it all back into place.

Last year we picked up a 3D printer because Ryan couldn’t resist. He had big plans to print a board game table. He got about halfway there before his interest shifted towards designing modular convention displays. Now, this workhorse has been running nonstop, churning out pieces day in and out. You might have seen some of its work on the floor at Origins.

Ryan has his own little corner where he works his particular brand of magic. This is where he fine-tunes the designs for all our product files before they head out for production. Occasionally he finds time to paint a mini or two.

At the entrance of the studio is my stash of extra art supplies. Lots of fun stuff lives here. When inspiration strikes it’s easy to find watercolors, colored pencils, stamps, and much more.

This wall is all about storage and our high-tech gadgets. The internet lives on this shelf. Oh and our neat little NAS, which acts like a personal cloud for our files. On the left, you’ll find some camera gear. The center is where we manage the artwork. This rack serves as a drying rack and storage area for all the work in progress. One day we might update them to a flat file. For now, it does the job well enough.
