🌳The Giant Forest Dragon and NYCC!
Hello everyone!
Today we are exploring California’s Giant Trees in Sequoia National Park! Here they protect the biggest trees in the world, Sequoias.

Sequoias are marvels in nature. They are the girthiest trees on earth. And they are the second longest living trees. The oldest of them were already a thousand years old when the Roman Empire was founded! Oh the times they must have seen.
One of the most fascinating things about giant sequoias is their relationship with fire. They actually need it to survive. Fire returns nutrients to the soil, clears out competing underbrush, and signals the sequoia cones to drop their seeds.
Over time, these fires leave incredible burn marks on the trunks. Just look at the incredible burns on the Franklin Tree!

Because sequoias are such towering, ancient giants, I wanted to combine the rugged beauty of their scarred and burnt bark with the longest of dinosaurs, sauropods!

This giraffe-like dragon blends in with the canopy and the trees. It takes its time and munches on sequoia cones, leaves, and various moss and lichen.
We’re still very much in the design phase. Ryan is still mocking up colors and working out the look of this dragon.

Here’s a color scheme I put together myself! I really wanted to make the chest blackened by fire. As always the designs are still not final.

Make sure to share and follow the campaign if you haven’t yet. It launches in January.
