Sketching Feathered Friends and Flights of Fancy

Sketching Feathered Friends and Flights of Fancy

Last month, the nature journalist John Muir Laws held a class with the Wild Wonder Foundation. The foundation is focused on creating a connection to nature through curiosity and art. Guess what it was about? Birds! I love birds! I want to draw them more.

The Wild Wonder Foundation teaches drawing from a different perspective. They use lots of interesting facts! I love facts! In his class, John uses the White Throated Sparrow as a subject to show all the different parts of a bird. Did you know these birds have FOUR sexes? Check out the article to find out more.

With the goal of drawing more birds, I present my sketchbook from the class!

All these studies are in preparation for designing a phoenix enamel pin! We have three magical designs in the works to go with the launch of a small Kickstarter for funding! We’ll be certain to share some of the work soon!

See you next month!
