Purrfectly Magical Cat Pin in the Making!
Hello!
It’s been a spell since we last reached out. We’ve taken the year to a slow start and we’re glad to be back in the thick of things. Behind the scenes, we’ve been playing around, reorganizing our studio, and making a few changes.
We want to change up our newsletter to be a bit smaller and more frequent. Why? Well, we want to use this newsletter to show you more of our day-to-day thoughts and inspirations behind the art. The newsletter is our way of sharing a more personal and meaningful connection.
So what’s happening this week? Well, we’ve been preparing for Origin’s Game Fair in June by working out that show’s exclusive Pin Bazaar Design. See last year’s show here! Pin Bazaar is a fun treasure hunt for collectors at conventions.
This pin idea came from a doodle I made last year of my sibling’s cat Sabrina.
I thought it was super cute, but it needed….more magic. So I made her into a wizard!
After I dug through to recover these doodles I went to sketching and inking. This is what it looks like so far:
I feel this design works for the show because the Origins Game Fair is all about roleplaying and board games. We’re looking forward to fleshing this little wizard out further with colors. I am thinking of blue and yellow, but we will see after playing around with it.
In Enamel Pin making, I’ve learned that maximizing space is a must. Last Pin Bazaar, our star dragon came out smaller than expected. Laying out the design diagonally might have helped with this as it’s a thinner design. We still have some in stock here. Once it’s gone we’ll decide whether we want to rework the design. If we do it will be in a different color scheme.
Thank you for joining us. I hope you enjoy the new format and we’ll see you next time!
