Guys. I swear I am THIS close to finishing my sketchbook!

Let me tell you, creating a completed piece on every single page? It’s been a journey... A long, winding, and sometimes procrastination-filled journey. I’ll admit I’ve been dragging my feet on it. So to fix that, I’ve decided to get serious. One page a day. No excuses. I am able to do this by getting out of my own way and just letting the ideas flow. Whatever the muse decides to send that day. And you know what? It’s been magical.

Today, I want to share some of the pieces I’ve been working on and the wild, wonderful things I’ve been exploring in this sketchbook!

First up, gel pen pieces.

It was fun playing around with the different ink colors. But let’s be real, gel pens are not without their own challenges. Creating strong line weights? Filling in large areas? Not their forte. Still they’re great for breaking up spaces and quick colorful doodles!

In another newsletter, I talked about my new favorite process: intuitive drawing. It’s simple: scribble until you see something, then bring it to life! I combined this technique with a brown ink brush pen and a couple of paint markers. Then I went absolutely wild! It’s like looking at the clouds and finding what hides in their puffy curls. 

While at Friendsfest this guy came out to play. It’s one of my favorites so far.

Quick reminder: After two years of trying, we’re finally back at Emerald City Comic Con! I’m beyond excited to be here, handing out mushrooms and showing off our brand-new cat pins.
