🎨Let's play with a new marker art technique! Glazing!

Today I want to share something fun that I have been playing with! I LOVE markers and I LOVE trying out new art supplies to explore new spaces. Only recently did I stumble onto KatArt Illustrations.

Just WOW! I’m blown away! I thought I knew the limits of what alcohol markers could do. Kat Young pushes the boundaries of technique to another level of artistry.

Kat’s YouTube channel KatArtIllusrations shows how she creates with markers. She uses a technique called glazing which allows her to apply layer on layer to create beautiful pieces. I was so inspired I had to try it out myself!

The colors used here are not as vibrant as what I’m used to, but hey, you have to start somewhere! I’m starting to see where this technique might work best. For those who are curious (or want to give it a try yourself), here is a little step-by-step.

Like always we start with an inked piece.

Then we add a layer of shadows. Here I used purple to create some really rich darks.

After that, I add some color on top and put on the final touches! It is wild to see how the colors change below the top layer. Color Theory in action!
