💧Water vs. 🖤Ink: A Chaotic Art Adventure!

Soluble Shenanigans

After messing around with digital art for the Dragonarium campaign, I wanted to get messy with traditional art! What better way to get back into traditional art than to experiment with my brush pens?

These brush pens are water-soluble, which is a feature I normally ignore. It seems like a weird thing to do to a drawing. I mean I just drew it, why destroy it with water? After a few tests and adding a splash of fountain pen ink, it started to get interesting!

Well, these turned out to be a bit chaotic, but these are tests! I decided to up the ante and mix markers in.

Turns out, markers and water-soluble ink don’t like each other…or maybe like each other too much...look how much they blend. The lines ended up fuzzy. Definitely not the vibe I was trying to achieve. 

For round two, I sketched in pencil and colored in markers first! Then added ink and water.

It turned out better, but boy was it a challenge! I am used to coloring within the lines, but here there were no lines to color in! Well…at least not accurately. That said, I’m interested and will definitely be trying this technique more in my sketchbook.

My mind is blown. The Celestial Dragonarium campaign is over 300% funded! All stretch goals have been smashed to stardust. Seriously, you guys are incredible!

That said, we don't want to let the fun end so soon. So to keep this rocket going, we’re looking into Pre-order pins!
